Reflection

This artifact came into being after a search for my own inspiration for this assignment, which led me to write my story in a fiction. Although this is a story that stemmed from my own search for inspiration, I have added many more trials and tribulations along the way for Jeremy Knox.  These challenges are ones that many people are likely to encounter sometime in their lives, but compiled together, it has a comical effect, as the reader only vicariously experiences the series of events that unfolds in poor Jeremy Knox’s life.  Although this series is full of adventure and humorous details, this work lacks, at the moment, an element of fantasy because it is so close to reality.

The toughest challenge about writing this article, in the beginning, was finding the inspiration for a story of this kind.  It took me hours to come up with an idea for a story, but once I wrote it out, it made no sense and I had difficulty thinking of how to continue the story.  It was very frustrating trying to come up with something from nothing, and I really struggled to find an inspiration for this assignment. After many drafts of unfinished stories and many deleted paragraphs, I decided to just write a fictional story that depicted what was happening to me at that moment. I first came up with a good name for the author who was to be my main character, and I began to formulate a story around him.  From creating the character, Jeremy Knox, I was able to write many chapters just by envisioning the kind of challenges he might experience on his way to pursue his dream and find inspiration.

Looking back over the many articles that I wrote, along with the many storyline challenges and inspiration challenges that I have encountered, a couple of things have become clear to me about how I write best. First of all, for a creative piece like these, it is best if I do a pre-write, and just write down all the ideas floating around in my head on to the computer to figure out what makes sense and which idea has most potential. After this process is completed, it becomes easier for me to write a creative story that is more structured and has an interesting theme.
